FAQs
What are lash extensions and what are the different styles?
Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent high quality synthetic strands of hair which are attached and applied to each individual natural lash, used to enhance the length, curl, fullness, and thickness of natural eyelashes.
Lash extensions should only be applied by qualified/certified lash technician.
Classic Lashes - are the most natural-looking eyelash extensions as they are applied 1:1 (1 extension is applied to 1 natural lash). If you want a mascara look without the mascara then classic lashes are the best option for you.
Russian Volume Lashes - Russian volume is a more advanced technique, Russian volumes lashes are carefully hand crafted with two or more super fine lashes to your natural lashes, this adds volume and fluffiness which can really enhance the lashes for that strip lash look you can go up in volume 2D (two lashes attached to one single lash) 3D ( three lashes attached to one single lash) 4D,5D,6D and so on. The further up the Ds you go the thicker you can create your Russian volume look creating a fluffy softer look and feel on the eyes.
Hybrid Lashes - Hybrids are a mixture of Classic Lashes and Russians Volume. Classic lashes are put in to extend the length and the Russian volume is added if your natural lashes are sparse for a natural fluffy look.
How long do lash extensions take?
Classic lashes take 1 hour, Russian and Hybrid lashes take around 2 hours. Mega volume can take up to 3 hours.
How long will my lashes last?
Lash extensions last as long as your natural lash cycle, The lifespan of your extensions will depend on wear and tear, lifestyle, natural lashes, skin type, etc. All of these factors will affect how quickly you shed your natural lashes and the extensions. This can be hard to predict as everyone is different, the average set of lash extensions last between 3/4 weeks before needing an infill.
At your infill appointment 50% of the lashes which have naturally fallen out will be restored for another 3/4 weeks.
For long lasting results please follow the after-care provided, using a lash cleanser and keeping them clean will mean your lashes will last longer.
Do I need to prep my lashes before my appointment?
Yes, please! Make sure your eyelashes are squeaky clean – no traces of eye make-up – prior to your appointment. Use an oil-free make up remover if possible, and rinse well.
Any traces of oil or make-up (especially mascara!) will create a barrier between the adhesive and your natural lashes, causing your extensions to drop off prematurely.
Do I need a patch test?
Yes, a patch test will always be carried out before I can do your lashes.
This is done 48 hours before your appointment.
Eyelash extensions are always attached 2mm away from the skin, the glue never touches the skin but the main reason for a patch test is to make sure your body doesn’t react with the glue being near your eye area which can be a sensitive area for some people.
Over time the body can build up an intolerance to certain products naturally meaning if you have had lashes for a long time you can suddenly develop a reaction at any point, which means lash extensions may no longer be suitable for you.
Can I wear mascara and eye-make-up with my lash extensions?
No, I do not recommend mascara over lash extensions.
Most clients don’t find it necessary to wear mascara with eyelash extensions. However, if you must wear mascara, i advise using a water-based formula.
DO NOT USE OIL-BASED OR WATERPROOF MASCARA!!
(Oil-based eye make-up and make-up remover should also be avoided.)
If you do wear eye make-up please make sure you thoroughly cleanse this off with a lash foaming cleanser, as excess make-up will clog up between the 2mm root between your natural lashes and your lash extensions which can cause premature fall out.
How do I remove my lash extensions?
Book in with your eyelash technician to have them professionally removed and cleaned.
Never pull them out yourself.
There are also now home removal kits available which make it quick and easy to remove at home I recommend using the Eyelash Emporiums.
If my lashes are sparse/short/fine/curly – will that be a problem?
Most lashes can handle eyelash extensions, there may be limitations to the type of look achievable if your natural lashes are particularly sparse, fine or curly. For example, a healthy strong straight host lash is needed in order to attach the extension properly and lashes that have severe bends may not be viable for extensions.
I will advice on what we can achieve, basing this on your natural lashes, the most important thing is to promote beautiful healthy lash growth underneath the lash extensions.
Can I get my eyelash extensions wet?
DO NOT get your eyes wet for the first 24 hours after the initial treatment, also try to avoid excess steam/heat.
After this its fine to get the wet especially when using a lash cleanser to keep them clean.
What is High Definition Brows? (HD Brows)
The High Definition Brows (HD) treatment creates a bespoke brow, tailored exclusively for you. Starting with a consultation, your Stylist will assess your brows and face shape to design your High Definition Brows. The next stages of the treatment consist of tinting, waxing, threading and plucking, using a specially designed formula to give you perfectly defined brows. To finish, your Stylist will use High Definition make up to complete and refine the brow area. You will leave with brows groomed to perfection.
The treatment time is between 30-45 minutes.
My brows are so over-plucked and sparse – can I still get HD Brows?
Even if you have sparse brow areas, hope is not lost! I will work with you on a re-growth programme to achieve the perfect brow shape for you. In the meantime, you can fake it with a little make-up application. The HD Lash&Brow Booster will encourage and improve hair growth, apply twice a day to see the best results.
Do I need a patch test?
If you are having the tint then YES. This must be carried out 48hrs before your treatment.
Can I just have a tint instead of HD brows?
Yes you can book in just for a tint only.
Can I just have a wax instead of HD brows?
Yes you can book in just for a wax only.
I’m currently pregnant/ breastfeeding/ under 16 years old, does this mean I can no longer have HD Brows treatments?
No, skip the tint during this time, as a reaction from the tint is more likely to occur due to hormonal changes. I am obligated to adhere to manufacturer’s guidelines, and i cannot go against them even with consent from the customer. Remember this is for your safety.
I can however teach you how to recreate that freshly tinted look at home with make-up, without the risk.
What is Brow lamination?
Brow lamination is basically a perm for your brows, as it gives them a set, uniform shape for an extended period of time. Instead of curls, a setting lotion helps brow hair stay brushed up and lifted, restructuring the brow hairs to keep them in a desired shape upwards for about six weeks.
Do I need a patch test?
Yes I will need to patch test.
Can I have a tint with my brow lamination?
Yes, provided you have had a patch test, a tint with brow lamination is the perfect combo for fuller brows, creating that structured uniform fluffy brow shape.
